Oh, It Gets Better! Fall 24' One Room Challenge

ORC - Week 3

Welcome back family for week 3 of 2024's Fall ORC. This is my Ooh La La week with the arrival of organization/storage products & some beautiful accessories that will help me complete my space.

Let's start with products helping with my organization & storage needs.

1. Hangers:

I use wooden pant or skirt hangers I found on Amazon to organize my carpet samples.

I had them stacked in a pile (not very convenient). By hanging them up, I can see them & move them with ease.

2. Tiered Storage Rack:

Space is limited in my office & this 3-tier rack with drawers from Ikea was the perfect size for my space. I did have to assemble it, but it didn't take long. For the cost & size, it was worth it. The new home for my tile sample sheets.

3. Metal Baskets:

These baskets also came from Ikea. They are the perfect option to house loose items like our drapery fabric sample books.

4. Drapery Clip-On Hooks:

I saw this idea somewhere online & I knew it was a great solution for our needs. Not only does it help to keep track of our fabric samples shown to clients, but it's also a smart way to keep everything neat & pretty at the same time.

5. Clear Refrigerator Containers:

Part of our client process after on-boarding, is sending them samples of suggested products. They can touch & see how colors can work in their space in daylight & at night. Housing all our paint chip samples in these clear containers from Ikea was the best choice & super affordable.

6. Clear Wall Shelves:

I used these clear wall shelves from Amazon in the past in our closet reno to store my small crossbody handbags. In a small space, real estate is at a premium. These clear shelves will allow me to display beautiful tile samples vertically as if it's a new art installation.

Now For the Pretty Stuff

I've been in love with Blue & White Chinoiserie since I was a child. I spent every summer with my grandmother who own several pieces (I have 2 of her pieces in my collection today). I was drawn to it & always wanted to touch it. After learning about its history in design school, I fell in love even more.

Here's a few pieces from my collection.

7. Blue & White Garden Stool:

I knew by adding this garden stool would contrast elegantly against the moodiness of the space. Drawing attention to the Eclectic Traditionalist that's truly me. I ordered this beauty from Amazon but sadly it's not currently available - Here's the link to my exact one.

I hope it is a restocked item.

Here's a lovely alternative:

8. White Ginger Jar:

Another awesome find were white ginger jars. I ordered 2 of these lovelies from Amazon. I'm using one for my office & the other on my dining room table for now.

The Facebook Marketplace Effect

One thing to know about me as an Interior Designer, I never go into a client's home expecting them to rid their space of all their belongings & start new unless they desire it. I find most people have items they want to keep either because of sentimental value or to help with any budget restraints.

My team & I are all about recycling, repurposing, swapping items from other rooms & giving items away instead of tossing them out. We truly take the time to evaluate how we can rework items into their design. A kinda "Know when to hold them & know when to fold them ".

Facebook Marketplace has been a great resource for discovering unique finds for very reasonable prices. It allows an item to find another home that will care for it. (Safety 1st - If you decide to purchase something from FB Market never go alone to someone's home...have someone with you & meet in a public place if possible.) If you're in the market for some affordable & unique finds or want to sell something you own, I recommend checking out FB Marketplace in your local area.
